Abstract
The role of the reader in constructing the meaning of works acquired importance in literary theory through reception aesthetics. However, the sociology of reading is not used as much in literary research work. The article provides a theoretical revision of the discussion between Pierre Bourdieu y Bernand Lahire regarding the concept of habitus, in order to approach the understanding of the mechanisms of production of meaning that operate in reading practices and experiences, from the perspective of the sociology of reading.
