Abstract

The most commonly used in the transfer of heavy oil to achieve adequate viscosity values technique is fluid heating, whereby its flow properties are improved. In this paper, the flow behavior and the influence of temperature on the rheological properties of a heavy crude oil of 11° API are exposed. From the rheological study, it showed that oil remains a pseudoplastic behavior to temperature variation of 29 to 69,8 °C. For this case the temperature observed no significant change in flow rate while maintaining an average value of 0,925, although the consistency mass index and apparent viscosity, which decreased with increasing it. For the temperature range studied model the apparent viscosity as a function of the rheological parameters influenced by temperature, useful to define the appropriate value of the apparent viscosity to temperature variations during treatment and transport is obtained fuel.
