Abstract

The authors initially presents the diagnostic and Therapeutic basis for the sleep respiratory disturbances (SRD), mainly represented by obstructive apnea and snores. They also discuss the features of the sleep obstructive apnea-hypopnea syndrome (SOAHS), sleep Central apnea - hypopnea syndrome (SCAHS), Cheyne-Stokes respiratory syndrome (CSRS) and sleep hypoventilation syndrome (SHS). Following, the authors show the clinical features of primary hypersonia and narcolepy, as the symptomatic treatment (stimulants and narcotics). They also relate the clinical pictures and therapeutics of the unstable limbs syndrome (ULS) and periodic limbs movements during sleep (PLMDS). Finally, they discuss the clinical basis for insomnia diagnostic and Therap. (pharmacotherapy and cognitive-behavioural therapy), of parassomnias and of the circadian rhythm disturbances.
