Abstract

There are many methods for examining hemoglobin, but there is no 100% accurate, easy and affordable examination method. At present many clinical personnel are still using the Sahli Method. This method is often used with consideration of low and easy costs, but the possibility of errors using this method is 10-15% based on Muhilal and Sukati Saidin's research, explaining the accuracy of Hemoglobin examination with the sahli method compared to the cyanmethemoglobin method, resulting in more Hemoglobin values low 10-13%, so the results of examination of Hb levels with the sahli method if the result is multiplied by a factor of 1.10 for Hb levels above 10.0 g% or 1.13 for Hb levels less than 10.0 g% will produce a grade value Hb whose spread is not significantly different from the cyanmethemoglobin method. Therefore, in this study a comparison of the results of Hb levels in pregnant women was carried out using several methods, namely: Sahli Method, Cyanmethemoglobin, photometry with hematology analizer. The mean results of several hemoglobin examination methodsare 11.6 for the Sahli method (with a correction factor); 12.2, for the Cyanmethemoglobin method; 11.9 for Hematology Analizer. Based on the ANOVA test it is known that the calculated F value is 0.303 and p-value (sig) 0.739 which means that the difference between the Hb examination results using the Sahli method and the correction factor, and the Cyanmethemoglobin method, and the Hematology Analizer are not significant. This shows that the use of the Sahli Method with correction factors can be used as an option for examining Hemoglobin levels in pregnant women. Keyword: Method, examination, hemoglobin
