Abstract

The formulation for least cost poultry feed, must take into account the nutritive value of available feedstuffs, their antinutritional factors and price. Linear programming is one of basis tools uses in least cost feed formulation. The West African poultry Feed Formulation Spreadsheet (WAFFS – Poultry) was constructed in Microsoft Excel 2013 solverwith the aim of least cost feed formulation and satisfying poultry nutritional requirement including the constraints relate to feedstuffs. WAFFS – Poultry was elaborated on West African feedstuffs basis and particularly those in Niger and Benin. It allows a least cost feed formulation by establishing a balance between the feed price, its composition and feedstuffs constraints. WAFFS – poultry can be used for in-farm feed formulation or in poultry feed formulation training. Production performance and metabolism tests of formulated feed will allows to evaluate WAFFS – Poultry efficiency.
