Abstract

Entrepreneurship is the engine for economic growth in the regions, which is why universities, in order to contribute to it, can be the seedbed of future entrepreneurs who will be inserted into the economy, generating sources of work. This study aims to analyze the factors that determine the entrepreneurial intention of Mexican university students, seeking to enrich the model of entrepreneurial intention of Liñán and Chen (2006) that considers the teaching-learning process and teacher training. To verify the model, an investigation with a quantitative approach and causal scope was designed, using the variables: personal attraction, social value, entrepreneurial capacity, teacher training and teaching-learning process, as predictors of entrepreneurial intention. The data were collected through a questionnaire applied in situ to a sample of 364 university students from northwestern Mexico, whose statistical analysis was carried out through structural equations. The results reflect that the basic determinants of entrepreneurial intention are entrepreneurial capacity and the teaching-learning process. It is concluded that the teacher does not affect the development of the entrepreneurial intention, recommending reviewing the profile of the actors who participate in entrepreneurial education and promoting study programs that promote innovative development in business.
