Abstract

For the past decade, there has been a rapid growth of interest in autonomous agent research. Particularly, there has been increasing interest in approaches that draw inspiration from the biology of simple creatures such as insects. To build mobile robots with the same kind of behavioral competences as insects, diverse sensory inputs have been integrated to coordinate perception and action, while remaining robust with respect to component damage, failure, or miscalibration. In line with this, several studies have been carried out to develop robot controllers.
