Part of a special issue on interaction, collaboration, and cooperation in teaching languages and preparing language teachers. A brief review of the articles that appear in this special issue is presented. The articles draw on research and theory to present the most recent and relevant views of the social side of the interlocking efforts of teaching languages and preparing language teachers. Each article illustrates how theory influences practical applications and conversely, how classroom practice shapes and reshapes theory. Moreover, each article shows different aspects of interaction, collaboration, and cooperation in language teaching and in the preparation of language teachers. It is hoped that readers will note the aspects that are most relevant to their studies and teaching and will benefit from the findings.
