Kekerasan Simbolik dalam Film “Dilan 1990” dan “Dilan 1991”

Abstract

"Dilan 1990" is a movie based on a novel by Pidi Baiq, entitled "Dia adalah Dilanku 1990." Early 2019, "Dilan 1991", a sequel to "Dilan 1990" movie, was released. Both movies were infamous for their romanticism. However, behind the romanticism, many polemics occur in society related to violent scenes in the movie. The researcher of this study is interested in examining the symbolic violence contained in "Dilan 1990" and "Dilan 1991" movies. The purpose of this study is to discover the forms of symbolic violence portrayed in the "Dilan 1990" and "Dilan 1991" movie. To achieve this objective, the researcher uses a qualitative approach utilizing Roland Barthes's analysis framework of connotation and denotation meaning. The result showed the forms of symbolic violence portrayed in the "Dilan 1990" and "Dilan 1991" movies, namely (1) Symbolic violence in the form of language or speech; (2) Symbolic violence in the form of power domination; (3) Symbolic violence in the form of gaze.
