Abstract

The journal of the Left Front of the Arts [Levyy Front Iskusstv] was one of the main publications that promoted debate and theoretical reflection in the Russian revolutionary environment of the1920s. On its first platform, LEF (1923-1925), directed by the artist and poet Vladímir Mayakóvskiy, the magazine promoted photography and, mainly, photomontage, as the new artistic tool of Soviet art. The cited and famous article Photo-montage that appeared in number 4 of the year 1924 is reproduced here with new considerations and findings.
