Abstract

Because of their brightness, photostability, and other advantages, dye-doped silica nanoparticles show great promise. Weihong Tan and colleagues at the Universities of Florida, Central Florida, and North Dakota and Hunan University (China) discuss preparation methods, practical features, and a variety of biological applications. © 2006 American Chemical Society.
