Abstract

Objective: The study was carried out with the aim of determining the satisfaction of mothers about midwifery and nursing who are lying in postpartum services. Methods: The descriptive study was conducted in two hospitals, one in a university, one in a training and research hospital. In the two hospitals where the research was conducted, the mothers who gave birth within a year created the universe. Pass 2008 program was used to determine the sample of the study. As a result of the calculations made, it was decided that 200 mothers should make the sample of the study. Data were collected with the questionnaire form and Visual Analogue Patient Satisfaction Scale (GAHTS). Because the number of births in the hospitals where the practice is made is different, the weighting method used in determining the number of samples to be taken from each hospital. SPSS for Windows 15.0 program was used for statistical analysis of the data. Numerical variables were evaluated with mean (±), standard deviation or median [min-max], qualitative variables with number and percentage. The data were analyzed by square, t test, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis test and spearman correlation coefficient. Results: It has been determined that 90% of mothers were satisfied with the nursing care. The average score of the mothers from the GAHTS scale was 7.1 ± 2.1. It has been determined that while maternal care in postpartum care services was mostly focused on bleeding control, pain prevention, breastfeeding and controls of baby, stitching control, hygiene, perineal and breast care were not done adequately. It has been determined that the care functions related to the topics such as discharge training, baby care, bleeding control, home care, family planning, exercise and mental changes were inadequate. Conclusion: Mothers who participated in the study were found to be satisfied with their care even though they did not receive adequate midwifery / nursing care. Therefore, studies that demonstrate the relationship between satisfaction from nursing care and expectation of mothers in postpartum clinics are suggested.
