Abstract

A series of 2-aryl-1-arylmethyl-1H-1,3-benzimidazoles were synthesized expeditiously in good yields from ortho-phenylenediamine and aromatic aldehydes in the presence of montmorillonite K-10 under microwave irradiation in the absence of solvent.
