Diffuse Rash Followed by Erosions on the Lips and Mouth

Abstract

This is the case of a patient who presented with a chief complaint of mouth pain and a nonpruritic rash over her arms and hands bilaterally as a diagnostic challenge. The symptoms began 2 weeks before the patient sought care. This case aims to highlight the importance of obtaining a thorough history and physical examination and identifying key features that will inform the differential diagnosis. The case reviews the varying differentials that aid the clinician in recognizing rare dermatologic conditions to avoid long-term disability and unnecessary morbidity and mortality.
