Abstract

A simple analytical approach to predict large-signal stability region of switching power converters is presented. By the concept of input-output stability, the large-signal stability region is estimated via the small-signal feedback control loops. Therefore the influence of the small-signal loop gains on the large-signal stability region is also revealed. A Boost DC-DC converter with average-current mode control is adopted as the example throughout the study to illustrate the derivation of the presented approach. The effectiveness of the approach is verified by both simulations and experimental results. © The Institution of Engineering and Technology 2013.
