Abstract
The disinterest of secondary school students in Physics and Chemistry is a fact that is associated with a loss of students studying scientific degrees and that is aggravated by gender. One of the reasons for this situation is the lack of connection between teaching and reality. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate whether the use of socio-scientific issues (CSC) can improve the opinion and image of ESO students with respect to Physics and Chemistry. To this end, we have proposed a multi-design study in which we used enrollment data from university entrance exams, enrollment data from the science faculties of the University of Valencia, and also a semi-structured interview was conducted. to a group of 22 students to find out their opinions and a pre-post experimental design was carried out with an experimental group of 83 secondary school students. The results show that the use of CSC considerably improves the vision of Physics and Chemistry.
