Abstract

Despite various applications of Rhenium in nuclear science and engineering, there have been limited measurements of the neutron capture cross section of 185Re in the keV energy region, with existing data showing discrepancies. To address this, the study employed the time-of-flight method to measure the neutron capture cross section of 185Re. The prompt γ-rays from the neutron capture reactions were detected using a NaI(Tl) detector. The pulse-height weighting technique was employed to determine the neutron capture yield. The measured cross-section values were determined relative to the neutron capture cross section of 197Au in the energy range from 15 to 90 keV. Additionally, the obtained results were corrected for neutron transport effects and impurities. The results of the measurement provided improved accuracy compared to previous studies, contributing to the nuclear data for the capture cross section of 185Re in the keV energy range.
