Abstract

Childhood trauma and its association with pharmacological treatment response were examined in depressed inpatients. Treatment non-responders (n=31) reported significantly more severe trauma than treatment responders (n=25) and healthy controls (n=49), suggesting that the experience of childhood trauma in those hospitalised with depression can be detrimental to treatment success. © 2012 Elsevier Ireland Ltd.
