Abstract

Curing of concrete was a challenging task in the zones of water inadequacy. Curing can be enhanced by using chemical compounds instead of water. Cenosphere is a sort of bottom ash attained from coal-burning waste from thermal plants. It has a hollow spherical particle. The shell is naturally porous, glazed with a crystalline film. This film can be removed by a chemical progression such that pores can be revealed and it provides a route to penetrate the water into the cenosphere and it propagates. This study emphasizes the effect of self-curing agents (SCA), Polyethylene Glycol 4000 (SC1), Polyethylene Glycol 6000 (SC2), Polyvinyl alcohol (SC3) and Superabsorbent polymer (SC4) on the various mixes such as M20, M25, M40 concrete grades. On a comparative basis, the outcome of these self-curing agents in strength aspects of concrete includes compressive strength (CS), flexural strength (FS) and split-tensile strength (STS) was observed. Results recommended that SC1 was the most contrasted with different operators.
