Abstract

Polyfluoroalkyl or alkyl sulfites, (R f O) 2 SO [R f = CF 3 CH 2 , (CF 3 ) 2 CH, CH 3 CH 2 ],gave fluorosulfates, R f OSO 2 F, when reacted with chlorine fluoride. With (CF 3 CH 2 O) 2 SO, XeF 2 also gave the fluorosulfate. An Arbuzov rearrangement is suggested as a plausible reaction mechanism. The fluorosulfates were also obtained in lower yields from the reactions of R f OH*Et 3 N with SO 2 C1F. © 1984, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
