Abstract

The development of drilling muds of varying composition and rheological properties was studied and it was found that the tangential shear tension/shear rate relationship for laminar flow depends on the characteristic fluid parameters connected with the fluid structure. High-polymer suspension effects with reduced friction coefficients are observed under turbulent flow conditions of viscoelastic fluids.
