Challenge: Tree roots were intruding on an old sanitary sewer main in a California city, making a large sewer spill into a nearby bay a real possibility. Solution: Workers conducted pipebursting on the main, replacing it with 16.-in HDPE pipe. Conclusion: The entire emergency rehabilitation project took about one month. Trenchless pipebursting kept surface disruption under control and saved the trees in question.
