Abstract

The use of rain simulators in research on erosion processes is a well-developed practice. In recent years, such equipment has evolved in order to contemplate the various studies in this subject. Thus, working with simulation of rainfall in studies on erosion plots requires certain requirements that must be met, generating events that are closer to natural rains. This premise allows the researcher to obtain detailed, fast and assertive data about the simulated processes. This work has as main objective the exposition of the correct demands for the use of rainfall simulators in hydrogeomorphological studies, and their applicability in erosion plots. In this way, when calibrating and validating the simulator and using it in erosion plots, it is possible to acquire data in diff erent localities, using controlled precipitations and similar to real rains.
