Abstract
For many years, cloths woven in England have held a special allure in Japan, where the suit remains an integral part of daily life. Our new Japan correspondent Yukio Akamine, in this personal appraisal, explores the nature of the relationship between the Japanese consumer and British cloth, and explains why there is much for the younger generation in Japan to learn from Britain's textile heritage.
