Abstract

A serotype specific, conformational epitope of VP2 of infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV) (Jasper), has been mapped by restriction enzyme site-specific deletions of cloned vital cDNA. Subclones encoding fragments of VP2 were expressed in Escherichia coli followed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and Western blot analysis. The epitope (between amino acid residues 242 and 325) reacted with monoclonal anti-VP2 antibodies that neutralized the homologous (Jasper), but not the heterologous (Sp) serotype of IPNV. © 1995 Academic Press, Inc.
