Abstract
The El Nino climate phenomenon is a very serious concern and treatment assignment for the Ministry of Agriculture, the Banten Provincial Agriculture Service, and the Food Security, Agriculture and Fisheries Service of Serang City because long dry seasons and water deficits result in drought on agricultural land so that this can affect people's food security and farmer welfare. The agricultural sector in Banten Province, especially in Serang City, is still dependent on the climate because the majority of rice fields are rain-fed. This research aims to determine the impact of El Nino on the condition of rainfed lowland rice in Taktakan District, Serang City, Banten Province. The impacts of El Nino include drought, disruption of the planting season, spread of pests and plant diseases, decreased crop quality, unstable market supply of agricultural commodities (rice). The research was conducted in 13 sub-districts in Taktakan District, Serang City. The research method uses a qualitative descriptive method. Drought due to El Nino in rainfed rice fields in Taktakan District, Serang City occurred in 2019 and 2023.
