A TECNOLOGIA COMO MEIO DE COMUNICAÇÃO: IMPLICAÇÕES DO USO DE SISTEMAS DE MEMÓRIAS PARA A PRÁTICA DE TRADUÇÃO

Abstract

RESUMO Este trabalho apresenta considerações teóricas sobre a construção do sentido pelo tradutor que emprega sistemas de memórias em um trabalho de tradução. Baseando-nos em uma análise de trabalhos produzidos por tradutores em formação com o auxílio desses sistemas, desenvolvemos uma reflexão sobre as implicações decorrentes da associação homem-máquina, uma relação que, cada vez mais frequente em setores que demandam traduções de materiais eletrônicos em nossa era, pode ter consequências diretas na produção do sentido pelo tradutor.ABSTRACT This paper presents theoretical considerations on the construction of meaning by the translator employing translation memory systems in the work of translation. Based on an analysis of translations produced by trainee translators, we develop a reflection on the implications resulting of human-machine association, which is increasingly more frequent in sectors demanding translations of electronic texts in our time and may have direct consequences in the production of meaning by the translator.
