Abstract
The boom in two‐dimensional materials has been started by the rediscovery of graphene. This planar material exhibit properties, which are of great interest for many application fields, however, some properties have to be accurately controlled by chemical modification, or the modification itself opens the new area of applications. This Review covers the history of graphene modifications from the very beginning to the most recent advances in chemistry of graphene stoichiometric derivatives and summarizes the scope of functionalities, which were successfully introduced to graphene core.
