Abstract

The Boeing average power laser experiment (APLE) oscillator is investigated using two- and three-dimensional simulations. The evolution of optical pulses in the presence of an electron pulse energy slew is examined. The most stable operation of the oscillator is found for larger values of desynchronism where the electron energy spread is minimized in preparation for input into the high power amplifier. © 1993.
