The Paper: A brief historical review, a description of the industrial production technology and experiments for preparation of handmade sheets

Abstract

This work presents relevant aspects of history, chemistry and technology of paper. In addition, two processes were presented to obtain sheets of handmade paper from papyrus (Cyperus papyrus) stem and paina (Ceiba speciosa). In the case of paina, long cellulose fibers with characteristics suitable to produce hand made paper for inkjet printing were obtained.
