Abstract

The article briefly mentions situations and forms of violence as they occur in our everyday life. It brings various definitions of violence and aggression and describes the sources and factors that contribute to aggression. The large part of article is dedicated to typologies and theories of aggression, especially psychological and sociological ones. The author also mentions biological explanations of aggression. Finally the author presents basic forms of helping the victims of violence and lists Polish organizations that are active in the field of prevention and intervention regarding this undesirable social problem.
