Abstract
North-American studies on legal mobilization have constructed some analytical synthesis between sociology of law and sociology of collective action, theory and research areas that are traditionally apart. The notion of legal mobilization offers a research agenda still not explored by Brazilian social sciences on the use of law and courts as resource and strategy of political action. The article presents, in general terms, the theoretical premises of this approach and its conceptual developments for the empirical reconstruction of a mobilization episode in Brazil, the Maria da Penha Law Campaign.
