Abstract

The development of technology and information technology offers new possibilities for detecting intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) in critically ill patients. Presently, non-invasive measuring through the monitoring of pressure in the bladder has begun to be promoted. Studies on monitoring pressure in the urinary tract point to a high level of correlation with pressure in the abdominal cavity. These measures are currently conducted in the majority of workplaces by manual measurement in specified time intervals. In this article the verification of a monitoring system for measuring IAP is described, which is part of a proposed system for automatisation of IAP detection.
