Abstract

Pedestrians are vulnerable road users, especially elderly pedestrians. In Indonesia, pedestrian accidents contribute to 15 % of total traffic accidents. This percentage is 13 % greater than the average percentage of Indonesia. The objective of this research is to find out the main variables that significantly influence the severity of pedestrian accidents and the road location with the highest frequency of pedestrian accidents in Magelang. The study is conducted using the Ordered Probit Model method. The results show that the variables that significantly influence the severity of pedestrian accidents are the light and age variables, the worse the light and the older the age the more significant its influence to fatality rate of pedestrian accidents, while the location with the highest frequency of pedestrian accident is on Jalan Jend.
