Abstract

A wireless optical automobile wheel alignment measuring system based on PSD (Position Sensitive Detector) is presented in this paper, which has the advantages of simple circuit, low cost, high resolution and precision, high working reliability, etc. The principles of both PSD and wheel alignment measurement based on PSD are introduced, the main factors which affect measuring precision are analyzed, and measures for error elimination are described. In this system, infrared transmission technique is adopted to realize command and measurement data transmission between the master computer and the slave computers, which makes the measurement operation much easier. The description of the system hardware and software realization is also given in this paper. The system practical application shows that its performance meets the design requirements. © 2008 IEEE.
