Abstract
The article analyzes the changes in the working condition of the metalworkers working in the ABC Paulista region in Brazil from 1980-1990. The metalworking firms changed the traditional labor policies with the new ones that stressed on investing in the education for the working class workers. The children of the metalworkers were given the privilege of working with the firms. The firms also introduced a policy where the children of the workers were allowed to study in the professional schools on a contract basis.
