Purposes of University Social Responsibility in the era of Agenda 2030: A case of colombian catholic universities

Abstract

Introduction: The university becomes a key actor to generate actions in favor of planetary sustainability. This study determines the existing purposes between University Social Responsibility and the 2030 Agenda, under the need to enhance the challenges proposed by the Sustainable Development Goals. This article is part of the partial results derived from the doctoral research Pedagogical Practices and University Social Responsibility. A case study in the Social Communication programs of the Network of Catholic Universities of Colombia, Antioquia-Chocó node, in the framework of the Doctorate in Education of the Catholic University Luis Amigó. Methodology: For this purpose, we resorted to the content analysis of current institutional documents of the selected universities, as well as content related to the SDGs on institutional websites. The analysis was carried out using Atlas.ti software. Conclusions: The results of the research show an encouraging panorama in the university scenario with respect to the progress of the Sustainable Development Goals promulgated by the UN. However, there are challenges that are far from being met with less than five years to go before 2030.
