Abstract
The success of dental treatment is evaluated according to functional and aesthetic results. To achieve aesthetics, four basic determinants are required in sequence; viz., position, contour, texture and colour. The knowledge of the concept of colour is essential for achieving good aesthetics. Colour matching is influenced by several factors, and if not performed properly, it can it can have unsatisfactory results for both the clinician and the patient This review discusses colour science, factors associated with colour perception, and colour matching techniques.
