Abstract

Scaffolds have a major role in tissue engineering, and hence their design is of utmost importance. Solvent cast technique enables to process synthetic and natural biomaterials into scaffolds that find immense applications in tissue engineering. In this method, a polymer is dissolved in an appropriate solvent to achieve nanocomposites of desired architecture. The feasibility of employing this fabrication technique for biomedical and other functional applications is reviewed in this chapter. It also highlights the recent trends, modification strategies, and characterization of solvent cast scaffolds.
