Abstract
Background: Malaria has historically been a major public health concern in Yemen, noted to be the country with highest prevalence Eastern Mediterranean Region. As more and children attend school, governments are increasingly recognizing importance of child for educational achievement. Aim: The aim is assess baseline knowledge, attitude practice pupil towards malaria before education activities. Methods: We conducted cross-sectional study, four randomly selected districts (rural urban) Taiz governorate. study population was 1598 pupils primary schools. Data collected using questioner. Results: who recognized mosquito bite as route transmission 769 (48.1%), while fever main symptom were 786 (49.2%), 281 (17.58%) convulsion complication malaria. Regarding protective method 881 (55.31%) mentioned cover tanks method, about BN 293 (18.3%) known 280 (17.5%) & pregnancy vulnerable groups Conclusions Recommendation: percentage knowledge methods prevention low (24.5%). Also, positive toward 45%. rate having bed-nets very (10.1%). There misconceptions cause (48.1%). recommend conducting activities that will focus on increasing levels among school pupils.
