Abstract
This article reports a new genus and new species Acanthofungus rimosus, which was collected at Taichung Prefecture in Taiwan. The generic and specific concepts of this new taxon are presented, based on studies of morphological and cultural characteristics. Separation among the genera Acanthofungus, Acanthophysellum, and Xylobolus is discussed. Acanthophysium is regarded as a synonym of Xylobolus. According to delimitations of the related genera, new combinations are proposed as follows: Acanthofungus ahmadii, A. thoenii, Xylobolus apricans, Acanthophysellum bertii, A. canadense, A. cerussatum, A. dextrinoideocerussatum, A. lapponicum, A. measaverdense, and A. minor.
