Abstract

Bobwhite quail were given 80, 240,400,640, or 2,000 overtraining trials after learning a simultaneous visual-pattern discrimination and were then reversed. Reversal performance after all levels of overtraining either did not differ from or was significantly inferior to that of nonovertrained birds. Failure to obtain an ORE was attributed to the fact that overtraining did not reduce responding to an irrelevant position dimension. © 1970, Psychonomic Journals, Inc.. All rights reserved.
