Abstract

The purpose of this study is to know the difficulty of learning students in learning history (students class X IPS SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Metro in the material of early humans in Indonesia) in even semester of the Year Lesson 2016/2017. This research uses descriptive quantitative research type. The sample is selected by using cluster random sampling (class random sampling) as the class chosen in using the sampling technique using cluster random sampling is the first class that came out first class that is class X IPS1 which amounted to 22 students and second class came out X IPS2 totaling 19 students in the draw as a control class. The sample is part of the population taken or defined to represent the population in the study. Then in the last draw that came out of the drawing of class X IPS3 which amounted to 20 students, this class sebagia class trial. from the result of the test in the form of multiple choice questions which amounted to 28 questions tested to 41 students of class X SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Metro, can be described that based on the measured aspect of the form of memory (C1) obtained results with an average score of 10.2 and then on the understanding aspect (C2) obtained the result with the average score of 3.7 smaller aspects of understanding (C2) than the memory aspect (C1) or C2 ≤ C1 Based on the results of the analysis that researchers do in class X IPS in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Metro in Even Semester of Lesson 2016/2017. cause of difficulties of 67.2%
