Abstract

Four cases of pellagra in 48-year-old, 61-year-old and 47-year-old males and 38-year-old female were reported. All of them have extremely had an unbalanced diet. Two of them were chronic alcoholics. Cutaneous manifestations of pellagra occured on the exposed parts of their extremities, face, neck and so on. Two of them showed the so-called 3-D signs (dematitis, diarrhea and dementia), other one showed gastro-intestinal sign and the another one showed only cutaneous lesions. Nicotinic acid in their blood decreased or laid on the border line. Three cases of male were inhabitants in the slum quarters. It was suggested that pellagra was not so rare at even present in such a peculiar area. It was made the studies in these cases and discussed about the tendency of recently reported cases of pellagra. © 1985, Meeting of Osaka Dermatological Association. All rights reserved.
