Abstract

Three Brazilian species of the Megalopodine genus Agathomerus show inherent, postreductional sex univalents (X + Y) in male meiosis. The system is a novelty for Coleoptera, because it does not fully fit to the related systems in Altica (Alticinae) and Diapromorpha (Clytrinae). All three species had 2n=20, 9+X+y.
