Abstract

Worldwide there are over 500000 road accident deaths, and millions more are injured or crippled each year. Around 70% of these road deaths occur in developing countries and whereas the problem is generally improving in the more developed industrialised countries, the situation is rapidly deteriorating in developing countries.
