Abstract

The conjunctive reagent 6 was efficiently prepared from methallyl phenyl sulfone. Palladium catalyzed cycloaddition with 5,5-dimethylcyclopent-2-enone then gave potent intermediates en route to pentalenolactones. © 1987.
