Abstract

This paper presents an experience in institutional support based on the guidelines of the National Humanization Policy and on the concept of Paideia. The experience was carried out by the 7th Regional Health Board, an agency of the Health Department of the State of Bahia, located in the city of Itabuna, Brazil. Using action construction through the recovery of the historical memory and data collected between 2009 and 2012, the report describes the transition of the workflow adopted to assist cities in southern Bahia: it used to be characterized by inspection and was restricted to primary care, and now it has adopted institutional support as an articulated conduct, integrated with other technical areas. The implementation of this new workflow based on the humanization strategy aimed at increasing the staff’s participation in management, in order to achieve more effective and better qualified input.
