Abstract

Growth retardation is a common complication in children with inflammatory bowel disease. A combination of the following factors results in growth retardation: insufficient food intake, malabsorption, increased catabolism, disease activity, disease extension, complications of disease and the side-effects of treatment. Clinical response to therapy is associated with an improvement in linear growth. © 2013 Termedia Sp. z o.o.
