Abstract

This paper considers the handicraft produced based on archaeological material culture, especially, the categories that constitute this production: replicas, hybrids and derived objects. Based on the handcrafted objects that reproduce the iconography of Marajoara ceramics, I reflect on their role in establishing dialogue with the past. I conclude that the creative inconsistencies presented in the handicraft do not delegitimate their relationships with the archaeological materiality and the past.
